A couple of weeks ago, we arrived in DC to work on my nephew's remodeled town home beside the Washington Zoo. He has one back alley parking space, and we wanted to reserve it for his truck. So we were parked back there contemplating where to park for the day when this trim, older lady trundled by with a shopping bag. She stopped and said, "Hello" with a cheerful British accent. She politely asked us what we were doing there and we told her how we were there to work on the new nursery for our nephew and we were looking for a place to park. Then she piped up, "You can park in my spot just two houses down since I don't drive any more." So we took her up on the offer. She led the way and I followed and backed in to the tiny spot under a fruiting mulberry tree. I walked back to the house while my S.O. stayed back and chatted more with the nice woman. Then my wife disappeared.

When she reappeared, she said that the old lady had invited her inside her gate behind the tall privacy fence to look at her gardens. They were a bit overgrown, but still lovely. Then the sweet lady invited her in "for a cup of tea," which my S.O. politely declined.

That lady is a spy.
